Beginner Ride is a go! - June 13th, 2020 in Millville, MN

This ride is designed for people who wish to get more experience on dirt before hitting single-track trails or riding in areas with other machines. It is great for transitioning from street to dirt; or getting family members or significant others riding.

There is still some space in dirt bike school. Even if you know how to ride and can explain everything you do while riding to your girl friend, if an instructor says the same information, it counts more. :)

Sign-up online ahead of the event if at all possible. COVID restrictions make normal registration more difficult. http://www.tctrailriders.org

Masks will be required for dirt bike school attendees, checking in, and in other areas outside your pit area. Please bring hand sanitizer. Full requirements will be posted on the TCTR website.

Racing is Back in D23

Our hard work is paying off.  We will be getting back to riding this weekend for races on private lands.  We continue to work with the DNR to restart racing on State and other public lands.

As part of our efforts, we have submitted a 13-page plan to the governor, MN Dept of Health, MN DNR, DEED, OSHA, WHO, CDC.  The plan meets the guidelines of all the above agencies in order to resume safe riding. These guidelines will be enforced, and many may seem strict.  However, the result of not meeting the plan guidelines will result in the events once again being shut down.

We all need to be diligent in keeping to the guidelines whether it's racers and their families or event staff and volunteers.

Below is a small synopsis of the rules that will need to be followed.  Note: Each facility/event will have a more extensive set of Rules and Guidelines so visit their website before you haul. If you feel they are too demanding please do not attend any events, until all the safeguards are lifted. If you feel that it is not safe to go back to riding please do not attend any events until you feel it is safe to do so.

We are restricted to 250 people in any one confined area and no groups allowed other than family to a max of 10. You may be assigned to parking and camping spots to maintain safe spacing. You will be spaced out accordingly. No campfires will be allowed.

We are not allowed to use community items such as pens and change.  Online registration will be preferred where available.

Some Dos:

1. You will need face protection when not on your motorcycle and out of your designated pit area. Bring face coverage if you want to be part of the event.

2. Bring hand sanitizer, and plenty of it.

3. Bring correct change; we need to cut down on money exchange.

4. For the protection of the staff at our events wear your mask when conversing with them.

5. Bring your own garbage bags. You will be taking your garbage home with you. This prevents cross contamination, which is safer for event staff.

6. Stay within your designated pit area as much as possible, unless racing, supporting your family member race, registering, etc. If you are outside of your pit area wear your mask.

7. Stay with your immediate family; no mixing of groups.

8. Take your temperature prior to leaving home. If it is 100.4 or above stay home.

9. You may be asked the MDH screening questions prior to entry to the facility.

Some Don'ts:

1. Don't bring any friends or grandma and grandpa, especially if they have any medical conditions.

2. Only one support person will be allowed to the staging and start area with the racer.

3. Keep the 6-foot distance from any persons that are not in your immediate family

4. Do not come to start area prior to your class staging we cannot have groups congregating behind the start line.

5. Maintain distance when supporting your racer on the track.

6. Do not go outside your pit area without face coverage; mask or helmet must be worn at all times.

7. Do not congregate with other groups outside of your household.

8. Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer frequently.

9. Avoid public restrooms if at all possible.

These are some of the things we have to do to make this work, please do not fight them. Put your feelings on this pandemic aside whether or not you feel it is serious.  If we do not do this the proper way we will be done for the season. People are watching and other businesses have received calls from the Attorney General’s office for not keeping strictly to their plans.  It will take all of us following these rules and guidelines to continue our season.

We owe a special thanks to the members of the safe to ride committee for the hundreds of hours that have been invested in this plan to get us back to riding. We have used local, State, and national organizations to put this all together. MX Sports and Feld Supercross are both operating in the same manner.

Race times and COVID-19 Guidelines For Hare Scrambles Season Opener June 6th & 7th

We can’t wait to finally get the 2020 District 23 Hare Scrambles season underway and we are super excited about the course our team has built for everyone at ERX Motor Park in Elk River, Minnesota. In order to comply with Safe To Race guidelines that will ensure more events can continue to take place this summer, we have made some necessary changes to the traditional D23 race format that will reduce the close proximity interaction time with our staff and keep large groups of competitors flowing in and out of the facility throughout the weekend.

We know how frustrating this spring has been and feel for those who have already had to cancel their great events. Believe me, we don’t make the rules, but we hope everyone will cooperate to take advantage of what is going to be an awesome weekend.

D23 Event Updates

The District Board members have been working hard to try to safely open up District motorcycle and ATV events for our riders and members.  To this end, we are creating safety protocols and procedures to be put into place in order to be allowed to hold events.  We are working through the correct channels and personnel.  In the meantime, we will be adhering to the Governor’s Stay at Home order.  There will be no District 23 events until the Stay at Home order expires or unless we have permission to proceed.

COVID-19 Update as of 03-30-2020

From D23 Chairman Mike Quinn:

Business restrictions will go until at least April 10 for group events. Knowing this all District 23 ARMCA events through April 10th are cancelled. Once all the restrictions are lifted we will resume normal scheduled activities and if at all possible reschedule any cancelled events. We will keep you updated on this website and our Facebook page.

Week of March 16th - D23 Newsblast: COVID-19 Update, Upcoming Event Information, and AMA Ramp Insurance Program

Amateur Riders Motorcycle Association ARMCA D23 COVID-19 Update

As of today March 16th at 4:55pm Governor Walz has recommended that groups larger than 250 people be avoided. The AMA has issued a statement stating that some events will be cancelled or postponed if it is mandated by the state the event is in. The AMA recommend that people follow best practices as outlined by the CDC. Minnesota has not banned events, but that could be done by the governor at any time. Do not go to any event without calling the day before to ensure that it has not been cancelled. Visit our website often as we will keep it updated to the best of our ability.

District 23 ARMCA does not promote any events, the running or cancellation of any event is purely a promoter/club decision.

If you are one of the people that is more susceptible to the effects of the coronavirus stay home. Do not attend any events.

We will keep you all updated on cancellations, postponements, and any other news relating to our riding events. This is an unprecedented and constantly changing situation, we will have to be ready to respond to government mandates controlling the promoting of events.

Hare Scrambles Round 1 Notes

Online registration is now open for round one of the 2020 Hare Scrambles season - http://www.moto-tally.com/D23/HS/PreEntry.aspx

Promoters of the event are encouraging all riders to pre-sign as soon as possible to avoid the long lines that result from the high number of entries at the opening round. There will be a dedicated line at sign up for all pre-registered riders to enter directly where they will have their helmet transponders scanned to confirm their entry.

***In the event the race is cancelled due to Coronavirus-related mandates, all entries will be fully refunded.***

In addition, all riders who pre-register for Border Battle XC events this season will be entered into a drawing for an EKS Brand goggle case and goggles. The winner will be drawn at the close of online sign up and awarded on race day.

IMPORTANT

1. AMA and D23 memberships need to be purchased prior to race day. Both are available online for immediate print out.

AMA - https://fs4.formsite.com/AMARacing/4jkjxulc77/fill?id84=RIDX36

D23 - https://www.armca.org/store/2020-d23-full-membership-zk6cg-xwpbl

2. Legible number plates with the corresponding colors recommended by D23 will be strictly enforced. Black numbers on white backgrounds are acceptable for ALL classes. If your numbers are deemed too hard to read at sound test, you will be required to go back through sign up to purchase temporary numbers. Block style numbers are highly recommended. Hard to read script style numbers or design font numbers will not be accepted.

Scoring for races with a high number of entries is a thankless job. If your numbers cannot be easily read while going through scoring, you will forfeit your race, no exceptions. If you are not sure, please ask before your race. We appreciate your help with this as it will greatly speed up posting of results and presenting of awards.

Recommended color combos:

AA - white on red or black on white

A - black on white

B - white on blue or black on white

C - white on green or black on white

Youth - white on green or black on white

Single-Track Near Two Harbors

Lake County is working to put in single-track near two-harbors. The county is working with the Wild Country ATV Club. A hearing for a conditional use permit will take place:

January 27, 2020 @ 6:30pm

Silver Bay Service Center

If you can’t attend the meeting, please send a note in support of the project to Jill.Paron@co.lake.mn.us.

Letters are not actual votes, but they can be used to show the county that there is support for this kind or project and trail system. Any note sent will show the county that they should provide opportunities for off-highway motorcycle (OHM) trails.

This is part of a phased in approach with the first amount of mileage being about 10 miles, with more to be added later. Rumor has it that the trails will be a cross between the Black Hills and Marquette, MI.

Rum River Trail Initiative

Tom and Karen have been working with Mille Lacs County to add single-track trails into part of the Rum RIver State Forest and on some county land. In order for there to be trails, there needs to be an off-highway motorcycle (OHM) club.

A meeting has been scheduled to start working towards the goal of another trail system.

Meeting Info:

February 24 (Monday)

6pm start

Broadway Pizza

16754 Highway 10,

Elk River, MN

https://www.broadwaypizza.com/elk-river/

The restaurant is waiving the room fee for us as long as we all eat there. Bring an appetite to the meeting.

We will have a couple of people from the MN DNR there to help answer questions and to introduce you all to them. We will also have the County Land administrator there as well.

In addition to the introductions, we will start the process of forming an OHM club. One of the main goals for the club will be to take on the creation and maintenance of the OHM trails in Mille Lacs county. The people in the club can decide on the other purposes for the club.
