May 7, 2010 Eject Helmet Removal System – D23 Recommends & Supports Use
District 23 is recommending that all riders use the Eject Emergency Helmet Removal System from Shock Doctor. A properly fit helmet is tight fitting and conventional emergency helmet removal will put tremendous traction on the neck and upper spine when pulled off. This can significantly increase spinal injuries – a major problem until the introduction of Eject.

Eject is a small air bladder about the size of a matchbook, with a thin tube attached and is placed inside the helmet under the soft liner with the tube end exposed at the helmet edge for inflation. Eject is activated by a small hand held inflation tool that expands the bladder and gently pushes the helmet off the rider’s head, greatly reducing traction or pressure on the spine.

Shock Doctor has established a free on-line Eject training & certification program for EMT’s. District 23 is working with all D23 event promoters to support Eject use and get their EMTs trained. Use our Eject link, or visit www.ejectsafety.com to find everything you need to know about Eject.

Eject can be easily installed in any helmet and doesn’t change the fit or comfort. Eject is required in the helmets of all AMA Pro Supercross & Motocross riders – you deserve the same level of safety. Don’t wait until it’s too late to make a difference.

KTM is offering contingency for big bike and youth Hare Scramble and Enduro series for D23 again this year. It's nice to see KTM sticking with their program when a lot of the other manufacturers are dropping their programs or scaling them way back.

When you register at a Hare Scramble make sure to give them your bike brand so we know what you ride. At the end of the year if you qualify for the contingency let your rep know so we can make sure the list is accurate.

They are doing the payout through the XTRM site for 2010. Sign up and review the rules at this site.       http://www.xtrm.com/ktm/
