Quad MX FAQ’s

Q:  How do I get started?

A:  You need an ATVA or AMA competition membership prior to signing up with D23.  These can be obtained online at www.ATVAonline.com or www.amadirectlink.com .  Once you have either of those membership numbers, you can print out an application right from the front page of this website and send it in.  Or you can sign up at the track at your first race.

Q:  Will I be able to race the quad I have?

A:  Most likely.  We have a class for every type and model of quad.  Look for the engine size and age bracket of the Quad MX classes that best suits you.  It is required to have a working tether switch and nerf bars or suitable floor boards.  Contact your Quad Rep if you have any doubts.

Q:  How do I know what class to sign up for?

A:  The classes are sectioned by age, rider level (A,B,C), or engine size.  Look to see which class best suits your riding ability and quad.  If you are unsure of which class to sign up for, or do not know where your quad may fit best, contact your Quad Rep.  It may also be helpful to come and watch a race and check out the classes, riders, and quads.

Q:  What should I bring to the track?

A:  You should bring your protective riding gear, tools, fuel, parts, and probably your quad.  It is a good idea to bring everything you need to repair any possible malfunction your quad may have.  For the most part, everyone is willing to help out.  If you are looking for something, don’t be afraid to ask.  Most tracks have food and drinks available on site.  There may even be vendors on site with additional parts or supplies that can be purchased.  Have a note pad with to write down what you would add to your arsenal.

Q:  How much does it cost?

A:  Cost can vary from track to track.  Wrist bands to enter the gate cost around $7-$10 per person, and are required for everyone.  Kids four and under are usually free.  Camping fees have been $10.  Some tracks have electric hook ups.  Practice (where offered) fees are about $25 which covers you for the day.  Race fees tend to be $35 per class.  Your start up fees will cost $40 for an ATVA or AMA card and $40 for a District 23 card.  After that, your weekend of racing is about the same cost as a family camping weekend.

Q:  Where are the tracks located?

A:  You can find the track locations on the current Quad MX schedule on this site.  By clicking on the promoter links, you can get directions, race times, practice times, and contact information for each track.

Q:  What if I have any other questions?

A:  Any other questions you may have can be directed to either of the Quad MX Reps.  Do not hesitate to ask questions or look for advice.  Ask anyone at the track ie. Riders, family, staff etc.  Most don’t bite.  We hope you enjoy your District 23 Quad MX experience!
