Minnesota Offroad

ARMCA Members:

Hi gang,

This message is of primarily interest for the enduro and trail rider crowd, but some motocross promoters may see an opportunity here also.

As you may know, the ARMCA board recently agreed to provide another publication, Minnesota Offroad, to our members. Minnesota Offroad (publised by MSPN, Midwest Sports Publishing Network) is currently the official publication of ATVAM, the All Terrain Vehicle Association of Minnesota, and is being expanded to include dirt bike and 4x4 truck activities.

The primary reasons for this move are to provide ARMCA members a publication that is geared to the Minnesota trails scene and Minnesota legislative and land access issues, and to reach that large untapped body of non-competition dirt bike riders. We really need to attract those riders for public land trail access to continue in the long run. This publication should help enhance and strengthen the common interests of dirt bikes, ATVs, and 4x4 trucks.

It is expected that track racing coverage will be minimal, as Cycle USA currently meets our members' needs on that activity. We expect to have a higher degree of coverage of enduro, trail rides, dual sport, hare scrambles, etc, because those activities are primarily done on trails.

Minnesota Offroad has an ambitious circulation program, approximately 10,000 per issue. The extra copies beyond the organizational members go to partial samplings of OHV registration lists, manufacturers warranty lists, etc.

I think Minnesota Offroad offers a great opportunity for clubs to promote trail rides, dual sport, and enduro, activities that the casual trail rider might like to try, but now knows little about. The approximately 6000 non-member mailings will be a continually rotating sampling of Minnesota "motorheads".

MSPN is eager to reach out to dirt bike riders, and I encourage you to contact them if you want some ink for your upcoming events. C J and Robb Ramstad of MSPN are dirt bike riders and former enduro riders. Preview articles on enduros would be welcome.

There are only four issues of Minnesota Offroad left for this season, and here are the deadline dates for the next two issues: 1) Ad close, May 3; materials due, May 7, mailing, May 14; 2) Ad close, July 26; Materials due, July 30; mailing, August 6.

As you can see, you will have to move quickly to get something in the next issue.

MSPN can be contacted at 952-473-6075 ext 102, 800-989-6776, fax 612-473-7805

The only e-mail address I have is C J Ramstad, the publisher - cjramstad@sledder.net (hope this is OK, C J).

Principle contacts and areas of responsibility:

Publisher, legislative issues: C J Ramstad

Advertising sales - Robb Ramstad

Managing editor - Pat Bourgeois

Marketing director - Joel Mellenthin

That's all I've got for now.
