Chip's Corner D23

1998 Awards Banquet

Through the years I've been to many banquets, but this year was quite unusual. First of all it was held on a Sunday afternoon instead of Saturday nights as in the past. I think this, along with the Vikings game contributed to the approximate 400 members that attended the banquet. Well, guess what? The game was on a big screen TV, and the cheers and sighs were heard just the same. Most people had a good time, and doorprizes were abundant. You should have seen the smiles on the Champions faces when they stepped up to receive their awards. We honored the winners with awards, jackets, and prizes. Mrs. Jim Bracy and John DeOtis gave a riding scholarship to the Tony D. MX School in her husband's honor. It was a real tearjerker. You can apply for this scholarship each year through the Dist. office, or contact John DeOtis for details. Soon to be available on the Dist.23 website. There will be a winner for this scholarship for the next ten years. Also while at the banquet, I was reminded of World Champion Schmit's birthday and the anniversary of his passing. Will anyone from Minn. be able to accomplish what he achieved? Which made me realize how much we all miss him.

I wish to thank the following clubs, shops, and organizations around the state for their continued support through the years. Whenever you get to one of these places of business, thank them, for without their assistance and support the Dist. wouldn't be much. Because of them we have one of the best riding and racing communities in the nation.

Dist.23 continues to be #1 in my book.

My "THANKS" to the following businesses for their contributions through the years! If I missed anyone my sincere apologies!
