ATV's in the woods, success or failure?

The Millennium season has come and gone. Some people brought home trophies and stories of exciting weekends cornering or jumping past there friends. While others remain spectators by choice or because of a mishap on the track, but never the less both still thinking about riding.

One thing for sure is that the guys and girls who ride ATV's were certainly happy this year. District 23 decided for the 2000 season to test having ATV's in the hare scramble series. With success the District would have us for years to come. If failure was the answer, ATV's future would be uncertain. There was two class proposed, Quad sport and Quad utility. Which were scheduled at all eight races in 2000. We advertised by sending flyers to ATVAM, dealers around the state, putting articles in the District Papers, and a lot of phone calls to spread the word.

Some promoters were concerned with quad turnout and having to widen the trail. But when round one at Millville came around we had thirty-six sport quads and six utility quads. Which wasn't to bad for only three months of advertising. over the course of the year we had lots of new faces and quite a few people who tried to make it to all the races. When all was said and done, we had right around one hundred different people sign up between the two classes.

The race season is creeping up on us again and Quads must have fared good to the District because we are back for the six race series in 2001. They added on two more classes to make four different levels you can enter your ATV in. Quads also received a ATV class representative on the District 23 board. Which to myself is good thing so that we can voice are opinion.

I know I speak for most of the Quad Racers when I say thank you to everyone who got us under way. The District President, board members, and very much so to the promoters for making the accommodations in track preparation and fitting us in to your already busy schedule. I would personally like to thank all the riders this year. Not only for just getting out there to promote our sport, but for doing so with understanding, cooperation, and patience. Especially since this was new to the District and the Promoters and that there would be some confusion.

Only good is to come from us showing up at the track with a positive fun filled attitude with willingness to work with the tracks. Everyone wants to ride so lets do it with strength in numbers and have a bigger and better 2001. See ya at the track.
