D23 has made a change to the Classifieds and Guest forums to ensure posted threads are relevant to the Motorcycle community we represent.  Recently, there have been numerous postings from spammers and non-motorcycle related topics that we have been manually deleting. To alleviate this we will not longer allow postings to the forum with out a valid user account. Here are the 3 levels of forum privileges.

1. Guests - Read only

2. Registered users - Those that have a username and password to log into the forums. These users can read all forums but can only post in guest discussion and classifieds.

3. Authenticated users - Those that have a username and password and have provided their Name and D23 member number and been authenticated.  These users can read and post to all forums.

This winter is pretty much over but I would like to find a rear tire for winter riding next year. Has anybody tried making their own studded tire with the studs that WER sells? How would that compare to a Trelly??

Anything other than Trelleborg is a step down in quality. 5 to 10 seasons on Trelleborgs comes
out to a low cost per season which can justify their price to the guys who ride every year. There
is other stuff out there and they work fine, they just won't last as long as the real deal.

I think I've had my Trellys for 10 years, they look a little rough but still work better than the China tire with studs.

I am going to try and make up a tire with these wwwgripstuds.com, they look like they realy lock into the tire.

I have a bruno wessel studd gun If you'd like I could build a costume set of tires for you. there are different lenght studds you can use depending on your style of riding. there the same studds that are in a trelleberg. the tires I used this year were the IRC M5B rear and the VE35 front they work great and alot cheaper. If this is something you would be interested in let me know we can work something out. go to brunowessel .com check out there sight.

Did your tires hold up as well as the Trelleborgs do? I am looking for something to ride on frozen dirt with some snow mixed in...

That particular tire on my 2006 crf450r I ran in about 1-2 feet of snow sometimes deeper drifts, hard packed snowmobile trails frozen rivers, and frozon dirtmix. I put about 100 hours on them this winter and they still look pretty good.
With my style of riding I can wreck any tire in days if wanted too. but with a little respect I can wreck one in about 4yrs.
I think its the best bang for your buck trelly's are spendy. Look what you pay for throught wer about a buck a studd plus tire. The way I go Is I can studd any tire I want for half that. Plus ?I have a variaty of studds to choose from.
