Frequently Asked questions

 

1. When is the 2008 application coming out in the mail?

 

The application will be mailed out approximately Jan. 25^th 2008.  If you were a member in the 2007 season you will automatically receive one. If you didn’t it could be is because you moved and did not notify the District office of your new address.

 

2. When can I get my new number?

 

If you pick a number that was not used in 2007 than you can get that number right away. If you choose to have a number that a rider had in 2007 than you have to wait until the deadline date (March 1^st) to see if that rider claims that number for 2008.

 

3. How do I know what numbers I can choose from?

 

Rider number information is available on the District web site and will also be mailed out with the application.

 

4. If I want a number that was used last year by another rider do I wait to send in my application until after the deadline date (March 1^st) to see if it’s open?

 

No, send your application in as soon as possible to get in line for that number. The applications get processed in the order they are received. For all riders that ask for a number that is not currently available have to wait until the deadline to be processed. If you wait until the deadline to send in your application there will be hundreds of applications to be processed in front of you. 

 

5. I sent my application in way before the deadline, why haven’t I received my district card yet?

 

You more than likely asked for a number that was not yet available. You would have to wait to see if it became available after the deadline date by last years rider not claiming it again for 2008.  Applications that ask for a number that is not available at the time of receiving it will be processed after March 1^st.

 

6. Do I send in both copies of the application?

 

Yes

 

7. Do I have to send in a minor release form with the application?

 

No

 

8. Do I have to have the application notarized?

 

No

 

9. What if I earned a top 20 number?

 

An earned number is always available to you as long as you are riding the same class. It cannot be given to anyone else even if you don’t use it.

 

10. What is a full membership card?

 

A full membership card is for riders that want to race more than one class. It is also available for all venues of racing.

 

11. What is a one-class card?

 

This card is for riders that only want to participate in one class only in one venue only. You cannot sign up for a one-class card in Moto cross for instance and than go participate in an Enduro etc.

 

12. Can I reserve a number over the phone?

 

No, to make it fair to all riders your application needs to be sent in to receive your number.

 

13. How do I know what age group I can race in?

 

We go by the age you were on January 1^st 2008.

 

14. Can a youth rider ages 7-15 ride in more than two youth classes?

 

Yes

 

15. What is the difference between youth classes and amateur classes?

 

Youth classes are for riders racing minicycles up to age 15. Which would be mini classes. Amateur classes are for motorcycles ridden by riders over the age of 15.

 

16. I am turning 14 in July of this year; can I start out the racing season in the 14-24 class?

 

No, you have to wait until you are 14. This rule applies for all amateur riders. You have to be the age to ride a particular class. For instance you have to be 25 to race the 25+ class not 24 even though you will be 25 sometime during the summer. When you turn 25 than you can move to the 25+ class.

 

     17.  My son is 11 but will be 12 in August and wants to race in the 12-15 class from the beginning of the season, can he do this?

Yes, but he has to remember that he cannot go back to the 7-11 class. Nor can he ride in the 7-11 and the 12-15 classes. Either that person is 11 or he is 12. That decision needs to be made at the beginning of the season. As you can see youth riders can move up a class as long as they are to be a particular age anytime during the season, where amateur riders have to wait until they are that particular age.

 

18. Can I have the same number as last year if I am moving to a different class?

 

The answer is probably not. Your number is only available to you if you are riding in the same class. If you are a C rider with number 567 and moved to B class your odds of getting the same number in the B class depends on whether there was a B class rider with that number last year and wants to keep it.

 

19. If I am riding an 85cc bike and a 125 will my number be the same on both bikes?

 

More than likely not unless the number you pick fits into both numbering systems.

 

20. What color of backgrounds do I need?

 

A riders use black numbers on white background; B riders black numbers on yellow background; C riders white numbers on black background. Youth riders depends on whether they are categorized as a A,B or C rider. Mini riders can be black on white or white on black.

 

21. Why do some C class riders have a letter on their number plate?

 

That is because the District has run out of numbers 21-999. If you are one of those riders that have to use a letter before the number make sure the letter is at least 6” tall, no smaller. Make sure the letter is before the number.

 

22. I want to keep my same number as 2007 what do I have to do?

 

Get your application in by March 1^st 2008 but remember if you are switching classes that may not be the case.
